A little attention now could save you big bucks later!
If you have time for only one winterizing task around your house, this is the one: insulate any exposed pipes to keep them from freezing, which can lead to burst pipes and significant water damage to your home.
Exterior pipes and pipes in unheated structures, such as sheds, pool cabanas, and barns, need to be protected. Apply heating tape to all pipes that are at risk of freezing. Even if you've done this in years past, check the integrity of the insulation and replace where needed.
Additionally, be sure to drain all outdoor pipes, such as pool faucets and sprinkler systems, and have their water source turned off. You may need to call in a sprinkler professional to blow out any water remaining in the lines.
