Avoid a Leaky Basement
Keep water away from your house with simple steps
Make sure that the water on your property is conducted away from the house. First, check your leaders and gutters. Are they clogged? Corroded? Properly connected? Check where they drain. The downspouts should release the water a few feet away from the house.

Inspect the soil and walkways surrounding your house. They should slope away from the walls so that water is conducted downhill. Has your driveway settled during the winter so that it dips against the garage? Restore the grade so that rain does not collect against the house and find its way to your basement.

If all else fails, consult an experienced and reputable waterproofing specialist who can remedy problems with your foundation and drainage issues.
